Your Smelly Garden Friend, the Onion.

As I stare at my email, I stumble across a wide spreading chain letter. The letter reads “Onions can save your life with an old wives’ tale”.  My interest is high, so I open and start to read. The email goes on to state that if you cut an onion in half and place it in the room with someone who has the flu, the onion will absorb the flu. You must leave the onion in the room overnight and in the morning it will have turned black and the flu virus will be contained inside the…

A Time for Decision

I have been a student with Witchschool for just under a decade, I do believe, and have made it through much of the general study programs through the class site. This program has been an essential part of my development and understanding as a spiritual being. Most of what I have gone on to seek more understanding of was introduced by these classes. I have been a practicing eclectic solitaire for half of my life, and it looks to stay that way as my understanding of the inner workings of the… Continue

New

Hello. I am new to Wicca and just found this site. I am excited about the experience. Anyone on here in NE PA? I'm currently reading and starting to practice. It would be nice to know if there's any groups around me. Thank you.

Invocation and Evocation

What is the difference between invoking and evoking?

In many of the circles that I have been involved in over the years, this question has come up. While all craft traditions use phases such as "Drawing down the moon" or speak of "Channeling", these terms often do not find a proper context among those new to the craft. So, being that I am seldom at a loss for…

Where Am I? Really.

I was doing some soul searching and reflecting today while thinking about the different practitioners of Wicca,

shamans, shamanic practitioners that I have run across over the years (I met my first shaman in 1971 in Bolivia so I have been at this for a little while) and thought about where I would put myself on my taxonomy of practitioners. After doing that I thought that it might be useful to at least share my taxonomy with you, just in case you want to do some to the same kind of…

Medicine Bag

I have been writing about Peruvian (Andean) shamanism on my blog and you might recall that the shamans carry a bundle of sacred and power objects. This is common in most, if not all, shamanic traditions. In many societies shamans carried a medicine bag rather than a bundle (I use both). A medicine bag has the advantage of being easy to carry, after all its a bag.

Medicine bags have traditionally be made of leather or woven fabric. If you want to make a medicine bag then select a bag…

Back again and during mercury retrograde

Merry Meet.

I just realized that and it is funny how the retrograde brings out the retrospective side of me. I have been hugging this reverse tide even though it has been scratching as of late. That is the nature of change, of thinking inward, of speculation. Anyway, I have been busy however mostly to do with my state job forcing me away from a logical distance from my home to illogical travel time. Up until my involuntary transfer, I was busy filling up my BOS with spells, information…

June is over and with it half the year. The first week of July has been about reclaiming. First was rest, I was in desperate need of sleep. Yesterday was my house. Today my yard. After that, I don't know.

June was a wild ride. A lot of good came out of it, but I am glad for it to be over. Continue
