They just don't understand

I'll just go out and say it. My boyfriend is Agnostic. I have started to get back into Wicca around last year. It seems as if he was iffy about it because he told me that he dated girls that were heavily into Wicca and bad stuff came back to them and that one of the girls did black magic. He brought it up again and said that it isn't a good thing for me to practice Wicca because I let myself open up to negativity, darkness and black magic. I try telling him that it isn't the case.…

Twas the night before Yule

Found this and felt it was well worth sharing

Twas the night before Yule, and all through the Coven,

The cookies were baked and removed from the oven.

The bayberry candles were lit on the table,

The altar was wrapped in a new cloth of sable.

The children were nestled, all snug in…

Losing battle

As many of you may have read on my facebook page, a very dear friend of mine, mentor and sister Nicole Cannizzaro is battling cancer. It does not seem that she will make it until yule. I have been sending her all the energy that I can muster, but it doesn't seem to be enough.

Many of you have been helping me in this surge of power, and for that I am ever grateful. It seems as if the goddess is ready for her to return to her side. This is very hard for me, as I feel like, I am losing a…

Pretty mechanical ...

OK, so if this wasn't at the dollar store, I'm pretty sure we wouldn't be having this conversation right now. As regular readers of this space will recall, I do read humor books from time to time, and even read poetry collections every now and again, but the likelihood of my making a…

To thrive in chaos ...

I'm rather surprised that I hadn't heard of Randy Gage before now, as a note on the cover of this points out that he is an “author of 8 international bestsellers”, although I must admit, on checking out his site, I hadn't heard of any of those either (they seem to primarily be “prosperity” and…

Waiting

After months I'm finally close to the end. It's two weeks until the due date, so the baby could be born any day now. I've spent nine out of twelve months this year pregnant. It's a long journey that will be worthwhile in the end.

As the year swiftly comes to an end, I find myself reflecting on my year and the goals that I set back in January. Two goals were to read & write more. I think I would still like to find more time to read, but I've made attempts and have read a few books… Continue

Basic Herbs Lesson 1 Rosemary

A Druid's Herbal for the Sacred Year by Ellen Evert Hopman says of Rosemary:

Hello Everyone

This is the first time I have encountered something like this site online. I hope to learn something from it. I find it a really good idea that there are classes with exams and texts to read available to everyone!

Lesson 1 Essay: The Good and Bad of Magic

The Good and Bad of Magic

“True magic is neither black nor white. It is both because Nature is both; loving and cruel.” – Lirio in The Craft 1996

Magic, the reason most people are drawn to the study of witchcraft, is the act of using the conscious mind and will power to actively control the all-pervasive energy that makes up the universe and focus it on one task.

The question of how to use this…

Another Ritual Bath

While the bath for First Degree is for releasing the past, the bath for Living the Wiccan Life is for purification and is more of an "in general" use.

The lessons teaches that ritual baths "removes negativity from you on all levels. It can energize you, and increase your psychic awareness and ability."

This ritual bath exercise too uses herbs and asks that you choose from a list and pick at least one purifying herb and combine it with at least one other mentioned.

The…

Dancing with the Spirits

MM

I should say I was dancing with the idea of Spirit Guides and of course some meditation along with an interesting dream produced my Spirit Guide. He has two sides, one is Native American of unknown Tribe. I myself have NA in my family history but its not known which group. The other half is a gentle who seems more from the Celtic side of the family again which area either the UK, Scotland or Ireland, I've no idea. I just sense He wants me to explore both aspects. Right now I bounce…

The Cold Does Not Phase Me

Winter’s embrace does not send me chills

Summer’s high tides do not bring me thrills

Solitude of the Solstice is calming to me

The glaciers that form in the aging sea

Where does the snow drift from the skies?

Questions abound, will we ever know why?

The ebb and flow of life as we know

Never ceases to be and continues to grow

Why then? You ask do the rivers run cold?

To travel in this is courageous and bold.

I do not see death in the…

Ritual Baths - Spell for Lesson 1

The first lesson in this degree involves a bath as the spell of the month. Sounds simple enough except when you get into the spell, it involves reviewing and releasing all the painful memories of the past. This is the hard part...

In the bath or in a cheesecloth (like a tea bag) I'm asked to add a handful each of Rosemary, Sage and Sea Salt.

I thought it interesting the class did not explain the properties of herbs but I believe it was so that the student wasnt overly focused…

First Day of Witch School. my first impressions.

So I came about this site looking for ideas and details about my First real Book of shadows. Sample pages and the like, and what I find is a really chilled group of Fellow witches to welcome me.

I must say I really like the site and what it has in store for me but I can't decide if I should become a full blown student or not.

For now, I'll just keep on developing my own Solo Tradition and think long and hard about it before I make any real decision about if I should join or…

So the past couple of weeks...

Have been filled with times with hubby, selling our horses to save money, my workplace being kicked out of our building due to black mold and celebrations of love. All the while I am still trying to keep up with my studies which I only do at work so to give my husband some attention at home. By home I mean his dad's place and at my mom's place. Yeah, its weird but it saves cash, mkay?

Which means, this week has been very…

The White light

Thanks to my WSD1 Mentor, I have been able to change my chakra colors to pure white. It was exhilarating to feel the difference in my meditative state. I did not expect the changes around me though. When I go out, there is a difference in how people treat me. They move out of my way effortlessly, and are so friendly. It is also the way that people look at me. They notice me. I am used to being in the background. I found it very…

Emerald success Talisman

I am making an emerald success talisman with the tir (Tear) rune on the back of the cab I'm very busy with this, emerald is hard, so this will take a long time but it should be ready by the end of December.
