My Corn Moon Ritual and Honoring Sun God Lugh

Corn Moon

Sun God Lugh

We come to honor the Corn Moon in all of her glory and to Honor the Celtic Sun God Lugh. It is the time of days shortened and the time of fall and winter is rapidly approaching. In the days of old the Priest King was offered in sacrificed willingly in the fields that the harvest might be abundant and the people might survive through the winter. Some Christians celebrate in their own manner with a harvest blessing or
loaf-mass, later called Lammas.

The Priest kings death was a reflection of the dying of Lugh, the Sun God, with the waning light heralded the coming of darkness and winter. Now the God becomes the Reaper, and attends the God in His passing. It is a sober time, but it is not tragic, as the God says “The Lord of the Dance”.

I sleep in the kernel and I dance in the rain;
I dance in the wind and in the waving grain,
And when you cut me down, I care nothing for the pain:
In the Spring I’m the Lord of the Dance once again!!

Let us take a moment here and ground and center.

Let all of your cares go as you feel the connection from the Earth to you.

Enjoy this time, Take all the time you need. For this is harvest time, and a coming to the seasons of relaxation and contimplation.

Feel the Earth nurture you as you sit there let your tensions leave. Feel the stress leaving your shouldews and neck. Going down your spine down , down into the earth. Where it is no more.

Let us take a walk thru the tall corn fields. The corn is yellow and ripe and waiting to be picked.

It is so beautiful as it sways in the winds. Watch your step as you walk thru the fields.
For you never know when one of those little Brownies are going to jump out and grab your leg and run away giggling.

They are getting very playful for they knnw that there time of working the fields is coming to an end and they can play and have fun. So do not be shocked when you feel something touch your legs.

As we walk thru the corn stalks it is getting darker and darker for the clouds are covering Mother Moon.

Oh I just heard one of you let out a screech!!Was it you La Shae? Did a brownie surprise you?

In the distance an owl is hooting his hello and wants to share his wisdom with us We welcome him. He takes flight and flies overhead. His eyes are looking down at us lovingly. For he knows that we will share our bounty with him. Our spirits come united for a moment or so and it feels like we are flying free overhead and seeing the splendor of the forest completely surounding us, and all of the wild life. And yes we see those little Fae running from tree to tree trying to stay hidden.

Our spirits return to our bodies and we are at the entrance to our circle. It is outlined with fallen corn stalks, With about a foot opening for us to enter.

I walk thru the opeing with my besom.

Oh Great Besom of magical power this is the time, this is the hour show us your magic as you sweep the circle. All negative emotions BE GONE!!! And with that a small twister forms in the center of the circle. It is sparkling white and gold as it swirls and swirls and we can see the blackness of the negative emotions getting caught up with it.. It grows bigger with each round until it is at the perimeter of the circle and with a wink of an eye it swirls up in the sky. It gets about 200 feet over us or so and all of a sudden it is like the fourth of July firewords as the universe takes those negative emotions and just explodes them into nothing.
I then ask the Besom to bring in positive energy from the Divine. And as I sweep a funnel comes down again it encompsses the entire circle. It is beautiful all different colors and hues.. And such a peace is felt all around us and about uf. I tell it thank you and it goes up to the Heavens and forms a rainbow.

The circle floor is covered in glimmering lights. Beckoning us come….

I take my salt and water and asperge the circle from East over lapping east.
Salt and Water do you your work. Cnocincrate this circle so magic may be performed here and protection is ours. At that as the water flows and hit’s the earth it sounds like a fire cracker when it hit’s the ground and lands in a bright wonderful light.

I take my smudge stick and I carry it East overlapping East. The smoke rises upward to the heavens in wisps and swirls.. The scent of the sage light up the air around us and we take in the scent of the sage into our bodies. It makes us feel so safe and so at peace, and it brings with it a connection to the Divine and all living creatures around us.

I look lovingly at my family and say.

How do you enter this circle this night?

(wait for response)

Blessed Be Please do enter within.

I give you all a hug and a kiss, and I take my anointing oil and draw a stalk of corn upon your foreheads and a pentagram. Let this stalk remind you of the harvest and of the coming of Lugh..to join in the festivities once more.

I walk to the edge of the circle and I point my wand at the opening of the circle and I wish it to close and it does.

Sisters and Brothers we are now in our sacred space may we rejoice in it and feel complete peace and love, May we feel one another energies and give to those that need some help.

I Walk to the East:

I point my wand at the East and draw an invoking pentagram.

Oh, come to us great Mother of all creation.. You who nurture us and the Earth. You who has given us life and the hope and faith to go on. We open our hearts up to you or Great Mother.
(light Goddess Candle)

I then raise my arms to the Heavens again.

Hail to you oh Great God Lugh, we call to you this day to give you honor, and to praise you. You have kept us warm and the earth warm so it could keep the soil warm even on the coldest night of summer, Your heat remained deep within the earth nurturing the roots that the plants may grow. You give us health, of the vitamins that you pour down upon the earth in your beautiful radiant rays. We thank you.

(light God Candle)

I stand up with my arms still reaching toward the sky.

Blessed Mother Blessed Lugh we ask you to join with us this wonderful night!!!

Blessed Be!!!!!

(wait for response)

It is so good to see you all here tonight to honor the Corn Moon and also to honor Lugh. As the harvest is coming to an end may we remember the healing of the rays of Lugh and how He has sustained us with the plants that we have enough to eat to keep us full over the long nights rest that is coming upon us.

Reflect and thank Lugh for all that he has done for you this season, and let us know as he slowly sinks in the sun sets of life that he will be made new again come Spring.

We always have hope of tomorrow.. We are so blessed in the love of our Goddess and God.

And do not forget to thank the wee people that took care of your plants and vegetables this summer. Leave out some milk and honey for them this Full Moons night. We never want to forget them. For they can be very mischievous., as you can tell when the Brownies were grabbing your ankles on your way to circle.

Life is so good, even with it’s up and down’s life is special and should always be fought for. We are to resonate peace and love in our lives. To show people that hate does not get anyone anywhere but more bitter and more full of hate.

Let us cover the Earth with a beautiful white light and increase the vibration of love that will reognate throughout the entire peoples of our planet.

Fill your heart with love right now to where it is about to burst.. And when you are ready send out in a breath pure love. Feel it coming from deep within your being., Now say, (Meaning it, under no uncertain terms) HATE BEGONE!!! YOU ARE NOT WANTED HERE ON OUR LOVELY MOTHER EARTH.. And watch Hate leave with your words.

Breath in peace all around you and feel so comfortable and we are ready to honor Lugh. For there is no more hate on the Earth that we can focus on Him.

God Lugh keeper of the Sun we thank you for your tenderness, for your power to make things grow. You watched over us during the day, and sent down your love and protection and cradled us in your warmth. And as your reign comes to an end for a time, we shall miss you, but we know that you are there resting,
And waiting once more for your return.

We should take this lesson from you, that during the dark time of the year we need to rest, to spend time in reflection. To hold those wonderful memories near and dear to us, and to make plans for the time of your return when we will be more active. That we rest up that we have more than enough energy to keep up with what we need to do.

Blessed Mother Corn Moon we thank you for your love and guiding us on these summer nights. That we have your light to do any harvesting at night that we need to do. You nurture your children in your light. We feel it flow thru us and give us power, and fill us with love, and with desires to go on with our lives. You make us know that we are important here on Earth, and we thank you for that love and knowledge that you share with us.

And we will await for your return next summer, where we can rejoice in you.

Blessed Goddess we come to you with our needs… We know that we can count on you and your love. There are many among us that have ills and we need you to touch them and make them whole.,, Touch us that we will be strong enough to take care of them. Fill us with empathy and compassion that we can keep calm thru the storms of life that is ahead of us. Cover all with your healing powers, those that are ill and the care givers. We thank you…

So mote it Be..

(wait for response)

Please sit back for the Goddess has some things that she would like to share with you.

I shut my eye and hold my arms up to the sky and ask for Mother Moon to draw down to me…

I feel a surge of wonderful power and love as Her Spirit enters within my soul.

My blessed Children the harvest is coming to an end. Heed me. Gather all that you can, enough for you and enough for anyone in need. It is going to be a hard winter coming. Make sure your pantry’s are full.
Keep water on your wood stoves that you melt from the snows that will be sent down to you.

Make sure that pot stays full. Enjoy all that you have and give thanks for it. Especially the lives that are taken to sustain you. Thank that plant or animal for giving of itself for you. It is only right.

Let your hearts be full of love and light. For the winter only stays for a time and the summer will be back once more. So do not be sad as we part ways, for even tho God Lugh and I are in slumber we are always with you in your hearts.

I must go now children. You are loved.

I take in a couple of deep breaths and slowly let them out. I let myself come back to me as the Mother Moon leaves my spirit. I feel an emptiness inside but am still radiating the love that She put in there.

Do you all have that kernel of corn?

(wait for response)

And the Milk and honey?

(wait for response)

Good. After our ritual tonight I would like you to bury that kernel of corn for the harvest to come next year. Once it is nestled into the earth. Sprinkle a bit of honey and milk over it. So it may drink it up.

The rest of the milk and honey leave in a bowl and give it to the wee folk that have worked so hard. Bless them by holding the dish in your hands and put a blessing upon it before you put it down.
And as you leave say Thank You aloud that they may hear you, and they know it is for them.

It is now time to open the circle so please hold hands throughout this time.

I walk to the center:
I raise my arms and then bow down with my wand crossing my heart and I kneel down.
I hold my arms up and I look up toward the heavens.

Blessed Mother that shines so bright we thank you for being here with us this night. May we always rejoice in your love so fine. We thank you for you are thine.

Blessed Sun God Lugh we pay homage to you with our hearts full of love and thanks for what you have done for us. And for the harvests in our lives. We know that you will return in your time. May you rest in peaceful slumber.
