I am writing to you today to ask you to support the Common Book of Wicca and Witchcraft project. The Common Book of Wicca and Witchcraft is envisaged as a book of ritual, spells, and theological commentary about the wider Wiccan religion and Witchcraft in general, released in public domain so that anyone can make use of it without fear of violating someone’s copyright. You can learn all about this project at http://www.WitchLibrary.com
It is has always been my belief that not only the individual benefits through spiritual teaching, but the world –for every person who becomes more spiritually enlightened helps to make a more spiritually enlightened world. Therefore I have always believed strongly in sharing our teachings as widely as possible.
You can see this if you look at my own body of work . Much of my work over the years has been done either in the public domain, or has been made available by license, as clip art for example.
All of my Correllian materials for example, are understood to be licensed to all Correllians for use in Correllian rituals, teaching systems, and outreach to the wider world. The Correllian Degree books are certainly not public domain, but their contents are meant to be used in a religious context and much of that content constitutes a living liturgy within the Correllian Tradition, and is expected to be used accordingly.
Similarly other Correllian works I have authored are regarded as being licensed to Correllians in the same manner, including works like Correllian Ministry and Correllian Philosophy, and The Five Mystic Secrets which I did not author, but whose copyright I share with my late mother. These works are expected to be actively used as part of a living tradition, and may be downloaded free by anyone to be used and shared at will. Many of these may be found at http://www.witchschool.com/page/brochures-booklets-etc
In addition to these Correllian writings, a vast amount of my wider art and writing are available by license including hundreds of graphics through Don Lewis’ Pagan/Magickal Clip Art and Don Lewis’ Complete Clip Art, and hundreds more graphic images as well as hundreds of pieces of writing through Rev. Don’s Omnibus of Incantations and Invocations for All Occasions. There are also a number of booklets including “What is Wicca,” “Join me for a Wiccan Ritual,” and “Harry Potter Vs Real Witches.”
Some of these works have been made available free of charge, other carry a charge, but none were meant to be used in isolation, but as part of an active, living community. Few things please me more than when I see my artwork or writing reinterpreted in people’s projects.
Consequently I am very excited about the Common Book of Wicca and Witchcraft. I feel that it has the capacity to enrich people’s practice around the world with ideas, rituals, and commentary that they can share freely in all situations. The more people are exposed to good ideas, the more accepted good ideas become. The more materials people have to help nurture and express their spirituality, the more exuberantly their spirituality can grow. The more individuals who grow spiritually, the more spiritually enlightened a world we live in. I think that the Common Book of Wicca and Witchcraft is a wonderful, exciting project that can do a great deal of good in the world. Please join me in supporting it at http://www.WitchLibrary.com
With Many Blessings,
Rev. Don Lewis
